UD Truck Distributors (NZ) Ltd (UD Trucks) is launching UD Connected Services, its proprietary global fleet management telematics system, with customer trials currently underway across New Zealand.

Available in all new UD Quon’s and the incoming Condor range in the first quarter of 2026, this subscription-based service is also available for retrofit into Euro 6 Quon models in existing fleets.

Zane Erwee, General Manager of UD Trucks says, “UD Trucks is the first Japanese truck brand in New Zealand to offer this type of advanced fleet management tool to customers. A key point of difference for UD Connected Services is that it integrates directly with the truck engine control unit rather than ‘piggybacking’ off a separate telematics control unit. This means it provides direct, more accurate data on individual truck and fleet fuel consumption and engine emissions, as well as providing peace of mind around driver performance and fleet visibility.”

Key features include real-time truck tracking via desktop and mobile application, fuel efficiency reporting, alerts for fuel level changes, driver behaviour reports, feedback and coaching, and geofencing to monitor arrivals and departures, with 24/7 visibility.

“Our telematics system is proven technology across the worldwide UD network,” Zane continues. “Early feedback from local fleet customers indicates improvements in their day-to-day operations, and we are starting to see these results come through in the data. We’re looking forward to making Connected Services more widely available in 2026.”

UD Trucks will roll out more UD Connected Services features in the coming year, including a driver specific application called “MY UD Truck”, with trip alerts, vehicle health checks and performance feedback.

Zane concludes, “With the launch of UD Trust fixed price service plans earlier this year, Connected Services is yet another way in which we continue to deliver on UD’s promise of ultimate dependability.”
