UD Trucks donated eight engine to the vocational schools and universities.

UD Trucks Corporation has donated eight heavy-duty truck engines to vocational schools and universities across Japan, to support the training and development of the next generation of mechanics and maintenance specialists in the truck servicing industry.

The eight truck engines donated consisted of six difference sizes ranging from 5 to 13 liters.

Mechanics play an essential role in maintaining the safe operation of trucks on our roads day and night. However, a shortage of mechanics has plagued the industry in recent years, in part due to a declining birthrate in Japan and challenges in attracting young people to the profession. Through this engine donation initiative, UD Trucks hopes to stimulate interest in truck maintenance careers and support the development of new talent.

Takeuchi Satoshi, HR manager at UD Trucks in charge of coordinating the donation said “We hope to give students an opportunity to learn and understand our diesel engine technology through hands-one experience. We want to reach as many students as possible.”

Donation ceremonies will be held at an appropriate time and manner that ensures the health and safety of participants in the midst of the pandemic.
