Digitizing engineering and supply chains

UD Trucks has been working closely with PTC to better utilize data in the fields of engineering and supply chains.

UD Trucks introduced PTC's Creo® 3DCAD software solution and Windchill® enterprise product lifecycle management (PLM) software to construct a digital model that detects problems early in the design stage. These products help achieve higher levels of quality and efficiency.

UD Trucks has also introduced PTC's Service Knowledge, Diagnostics (SKD), and other services to consolidate product information and communication between manufacturing and sales divisions.

Digital transformation in the age of uncertainty

With the ever increasing pace of change and uncertainty in today’s business environment, UD Trucks has intensified its digital transformation journey by partnering with PTC Japan.

UD Trucks has adopted PTC's ThingWorx®* factory IoT platform and Vuforia® Studio*, Vuforia® Instruct*, and Vuforia® Chalk*, AR solutions for design, manufacturing, sales, and after-sales service.

UD Trucks already uses VR (Virtual Reality) and AR (Augmented Reality) tools in its design processes. Together with PTC, UD Trucks will strengthen its data-sharing infrastructure, that can, for example, apply digital twin to prototype testing to more quickly identify problems and make modifications.

Keiki Ka, Vice President, Head of Digital Solutions & IT, UD Trucks, said:
Our digital transformation is not only about digitizing analog processes but transforming our core businesses and corporate culture to better serve society. In other words living up to Better Life purpose, to make life better for all stakeholders. By partnering with PTC, we are excited to embark on the next phase of our digital journey in the areas of engineering and supply chains.

Hiroaki Kuwahara, President of PTC Japan, said:
We are very pleased that UD Trucks has chosen PTC as its digital transformation strategy to pursue a competitive edge and more efficient design and development cycles.
