UD Trucks goes the extra mile for traffic safety awareness in Japan

On October 12th and 13th, UD Trucks held traffic safety awareness seminars at its UD Experience Center in Ageo Japan for 117 fourth-grade students from nearby Fujimi Elementary School. The program was launched in 2016 to increase traffic safety awareness in relation to commercial trucks.

The students got up close to the trucks, to observe the 'blind spots' and the difference between the track followed by front and back inner wheels when turning. They also learned how to cross the road safely, a critical component to the program considering that is where most traffic accidents take place.

An accompanying teacher from Fujimi Elementary School said, "We are very grateful for this opportunity. With the pandemic we have had to restrict field trips and other extra-curricular activities. However, traffic safety awareness is very important and really wanted to take part, while taking precautions such as donning a mask and keeping our voices down".

The teacher continued, "I can say the children were genuinely excited to be part of this program today".

Some 14 volunteers across various departments at UD Trucks also supported the event. The company will hold more social engagement programs going forward, true to the company's Better Life purpose and actions that make life better for people.
