UD Trucks Corporation has added a heavy-duty model to its Condor truck
UD Trucks Corporation (formerly Nissan Diesel Motor Co., Ltd; President: Satoru Takeuchi) has added a heavy-duty model to its CONDOR truck lineup. This new model with 8-ton load capacity is compliant with Japan's “Post New Long-term” emissions regulations, which came into effect in 2009.
Constituting a full model change, the CONDOR PK sports a new cab design that reflects its shared family identity with the Quon heavy-duty truck and its characteristics as an 8-ton vehicle. It is also equipped with the newly developed GH7 engine, which offers both environmental performance and fuel economy. UD Trucks scored a world first when began fitting urea selective catalytic reduction (SCR) systems to its vehicles, and the latest CONDOR features an all-new version of this low-pollution device.
Constructing a medium-duty truck platform is a key area for harnessing synergy between UD Trucks and the Volvo Group. Based on the Volvo Group's CAST (Common Architecture Shared Technology) concept, the development process aimed to achieve harmonization with other Volvo Group companies. This “global truck” will go on sale in mid-2010 in Japan and in late 2010 in the U.S. Domestic and export models will both be produced at UD Trucks' Ageo Plant.
