Adoption of a new cab design
The Condor cab is designed around UD Trucks’ “SAFES CABIN” (Safe Cab) concept that incorporates a full roster of safety equipment in pursuit of occupant safety. In addition, the highly rigid cab construction serves to suppress cab deformation around the occupants in the event of a collision so as to ensure their survival space. Knee protectors are also newly provided to cushion the impact to the knees and thighs.
Cab comfort was enhanced by increasing the width of the cab proper by 114 mm over that of the previous models and also by enlarging the interior space substantially. Direct outward visibility was increased by adopting a straight door waistline design, reducing the cross section of the pillars and using center-sashless windows, among other improvements. The aerodynamic design techniques honed on the Quon heavy-duty truck series were utilized to reshape the cab front end, bumper, roof and back corner panels for reduced air resistance.
