In a 6 weeks long campaign UD Trucks is currently visiting motorway stations all over Thailand with the ambition to revitalize truck drivers, enabling them to go the extra mile. Demonstrating care towards the driver as a major interaction point, UD Trucks aims at rejuvenating the brand that has been in Thailand for almost 40 years.
Having started on 8th of July in Buriram and Nakhon Sawan, UD Trucks is visiting 12 major cities across Thailand to set up their mobile refreshment pit stops for truck drivers. Two dedicated crews are in action, addressing truck drivers during their breaks, engaging them with the UD brand and providing them with a relaxing massage as well as drinks for their refreshment.
Truck drivers are instrumental to the growth of the Thailand economy, with more than 80% of the country’s freight being transported on the road. This campaign is a gesture from UD Trucks to demonstrate care and appreciation to those truck drivers. After all, being in daily contact with the product, the drivers are a major interaction point for any truck manufacturer.
Jacques Michel, President of UD Trucks Thailand, explains: “We want to rejuvenate the UD Trucks brand, and further emphasize its core value: ‘Ultimate dependability’. We promise to go the extra mile. We want to be close to our customers and drivers, to understand their needs and to match those with a strong offer. Our products have always been well-known for their durability and safety – you can depend on them. And as you can depend on our products, you can also depend on us as a brand.”
Committed to Thailand
Being close to the customer is also reflected in the on-going expansion of the UD Trucks dealer network in Thailand. With 10 dealerships having been set up across Thailand so far - the most recent being in Nakhon Ratchasima - the company is about to significantly increase this number by 2014.
Investing 3 billion Thai Baht in the growing dealer network, another 2 billion Thai Baht have been spent on a new production facility nearby Bangkok. By adding 20,000 square meters to the existing infrastructure, UD Trucks aims at increasing the total production capacity to 20,000 units per year. Recently UD Trucks had announced that it will be introducing a new range for Asia and the Thailand market in the second half of 2013, further proof of the brand’s long-term commitment.
“Together, we’ll go further”
As a consequence, and emphasizing the local “Gemba”, the road show campaign for Thailand has the theme “Together, we’ll go further”. A firm believer of true partnership, Jacques Michel elaborates: “We care about our customers, and we care about their drivers. Hence, if we as the UD brand are going the extra mile, then because we want to enable those, who own and drive our products, to go the extra mile. It’s more than just a business relationship, it’s a true partnership. We want to be close to our customers, we want to be close to their needs. Only then we can help to optimise their business at the bottom line. This, in the long run, will again help their business to grow, to become more profitable, to grow at the top line.”
