UD Trucks Gemba Story

Gemba story: technical support

The UD Gemba Spirit guides my working methods. When a problem comes, I prefer face-to-face communication rather than phone calls or emails, so I can catch all the nuances of the issue at hand.

What does UD’s Gemba Spirit mean to you?
To me, the UD Gemba Spirit guides my working methods. When a problem comes, I prefer face-to-face communication rather than phone calls or emails, so I can catch all the nuances of the issue at hand. It also shapes the way we work at UD; we keep in close communication with our colleagues, and combine our knowledge and experience to solve an issue most effectively. I like this UD culture of sharing knowledge and experience.

Going the Extra Mile is the motto of UD, how does it reflect in your gemba?
When I took over my current position, I found it necessary to get a driving license for heavy-duty trucks so I could experience a truck’s issue by myself. Getting first-hand information improves my service to my customers.

What is your motto at work?
Improving every day.

Which are the happiest moments in your work?
The smile of our customer when we find a satisfying solution for his particular request.
