A Wagga Wagga based truck rental business has added some new UD Trucks to its rental fleet following almost 20 years of success with the brand.
Riverina Car Hire, the Hertz licensee for cars, trucks and 4WD's in Wagga and Dubbo and the Hertz licensee for trucks and 4WD's in Canberra has been buying UD trucks since their inception in 1989 and has recently added two new UD PK10s as well as a MK6 to their UD fleet that now numbers eight trucks.
The new UDs are all air bag suspension equipped models, which has become a significant attraction for hire customers requiring greater flexibility and ease of operation in the trucks they hire.
According to Hertz Wagga Wagga operations manager John Diessel, UD has been a staple of the company fleet for the past two decades due mainly to the reliability, cost effectiveness and high quality of the trucks.
"Ken Morden has been the Hertz licensee here for 20 years and throughout that time UD has proven to be an excellent truck for the job," said John Diessel.
"Ken is very loyal and has stayed with UD because they have always delivered a great truck that is reliable, has a good resale value and is economical to run and maintain," he said.
"They are also popular with our customers because they are comfortable, easy to operate and with features such as air bag suspension have a greater versatility and flexibility for a wider range of operations," he added.
"Just the other day we had a customer who was loading goods using dollies, with the air bag suspension he was able to dump the air and lower the truck so that the rear hydraulic lift gate was flat against the load dock for easy loading, it was perfect, we had a happy customer and guaranteed return business," he said.
The company keeps its UDs on fleet for an average of four years and a maximum of five years before selling and replacing them with new models.
"Our trucks usually log around 300,000 km before they are sold and in that time we have found you just don't have any problems with the UDs, the only mechanical work is routine maintenance, they are perfect in that regard," he said.
"Our local dealer Hartwigs here in Wagga have always provided excellent service and with the combination of great trucks and a professional dealer we have never had a reason to change from UD and we can't see any reason to change in the future either," he added.
The Riverina Hertz truck fleet includes the new PK10 and MK6 as well as an older PK265 as well as four MK240 models.
Along with its headquarters in Wagga Wagga, Riverina Car Hire also operates Hertz truck and 4WD rental outlets in Mitchell and Hume in the ACT as well as at Queanbeyan just outside the national capital.
