The heart of the UD TRUCK is the Nissan Diesel MD-175 engine. The FD is a direct injection turbocharged and intercooled Diesel engine, refined to meet the performance and environmental demands of work in the American city. It excels in pulling power, highway performance and engine life.  Horsepower and torque characteristics were developed to match the GVWR and operating environment of each model. The UD1400 and 1800CS engines are the standard, rated at 175 horsepower with automatic transmission.

                                          

The MD175 Engine is used in the UD1800CS. It is an inline 4 cylinder Diesel Engine with a high pressure common rail injection system, intercooling, variable nozzle turbocharger and exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) technology.

Putting Horses to Work                                                        Harnessing the power of the MD175 engine are transmissions specifically designed to optimize the  payload requirements and engine characteristics of each UD TRUCK. Overdrive translates to improved fuel economy.  All transmissions maximize chassis performance with smooth acceleration, excellent fuel economy and ease of operation.



The UD1400 has a fully automatic overdrive 4-speed transmission as standard equipment. The UD1800CS offers a six speed overdrive manual transmission, or an optional 4-speed automatic.
