The turbocharged, intercooled,
dry sleeved in-line 6 cylinder
FE6TA Diesel engine is the heart
of the UD TRUCK. With 225 horsepower
and 492 pound-feet of torque
(470 pound-feet when equipped
with Allison LCT-Series transmissions),
the engine delivers gutsy performance
in stop-and-go city routes and
during longer range interstate
trips. The FE6TA's balanced
powertrain also produces excellent
startability.
The FE has been a proven performer
in the American market for over
14 years. In that time, several
advancements, like 24-valve
technology, have improved performance
and lowered its cost of operation.
Combustion efficiency has been
increased through an electronically
assisted fuel injection system
(MD-TICS) and a tuned intake/exhaust
system, resulting in optimum
fuel economy. The air compressor
and power steering pump are
gear driven for greater reliability,
while a single V-rib poly belt
operates the water pump, fan
clutch/fan, and alternator.
Because protecting our environment
is a top priority for the Nissan
Diesel Motor Company, the FE6TA
meets all current EPA Emissions
Standards and California Air
Resource Board Requirements.
The 24 valve engine design,
along with a high pressure fuel
injection system and a Soluble
Organic Fraction (SOF) catalytic
converter combine to make the
FE one of the cleanest commercial
truck engines available today.

Harnessing the power of the
FE6TA are transmissions specifically
designed to optimize the engine's
strengths and payload requirements.
For manual transmission applications,
the U1800HD to UD3300 are equipped
with the MLS61B, 6-speed overdrive.
Allison automatic transmissions
are available in the UD1800HD
to UD2600. The LCT1000 automatic
is optional in the UD1800HD
and the UD2000. The LCT2400P
automatic is optional in the
UD2300LP, UD2300DH and the UD2600.
