The new UD Experience Center in the UD Trucks headquarters in Ageo, Japan, is expected to host more than 2,000 visitors from the world in 2013.
UD Trucks recently opened the UD Experience Center at the UD Trucks headquarters in Ageo, Japan. The 600m2 space hosts participants in the UD Experience program, helping them gain a deeper understanding of the UD brand. The program, launched in 2012, involves a diverse range of activities such as a UD History and Brand presentation, a guided factory tour, followed by the Touch and Ride experience, where visitors have the opportunity to test-drive a UD Truck.
“The program allows visitors to experience monozukuri
, touch our products, and operate them,” says Tomohisa Ishida, Head of UD Trucks Brand Strategy and Marketing. “To put it simply,” says Ishida, “we want our customers to get a deep understanding of our brand philosophy.”
The UD Experience Center exemplifies our brand promise “Going the Extra Mile” by decorating a circular running track marked with a center dotted line and marathon mileposts. The “gemba” workplace theme can also be felt through the space’s lighting and décor, designed to evoke a dealer maintenance facility. To better understand the heritage of the UD brand, a restored 1960s 6TW12, the first 10-ton payload truck sold in Japan, is on display.
The UD Experience Center is an important concept of the UD Experience program. Being able to touch and feel the Quon and Condor trucks on display provides visitors a clearer image and better understanding of the UD brand. The UD Trucks headquarters hopes to welcome more than 2,000 visitors, including customers, employees and media, this year.
