GH11 Engine

The new GH11 engine is the latest development from UD Trucks, using class-leading technology to create the ultimate engine.

The engine's overall weight has been reduced by around 10%, delivering unrivalled power to weight ratio and exceptional fuel economy.

The flat torque curve of the GH11 is delivered by ultra-high-pressure fuel injection to provide cleaner and more efficient combustion, combined with a VGT (Variable Geometry Turbocharger) and SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction).

The GH11 has been designed to be more environmentally-friendly and improve fuel efficiency, at levels that exceed that required of Euro 5 regulations.

The ESCOT V is UD Trucks' new market-leading, world class AMT (Automated Manual Transmission). The removal of the clutch pedal has taken away the hard work, creating an efficient, modern and trouble free environment for all drivers.

The two-pedal 12 speed AMT is cleverly matched to Australia’s demanding and harsh conditions with smart gear selection and an overdrive ratio.

AdBlue® & SCR working together

UD’s heavy duty range is amongst the cleanest on the market, clearing the 2015 long-term emission regulations as well as fuel consumption standards for heavy duty trucks. 

Every truck is fitted with a urea SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) system, which combines a SCR catalyst for purifying the exhaust gas an UDPC (UD Particulate Cleaning) system for vast reduction in NOx emissions.

This enhances the combustion process as each cylinder is designed for maximum combustion efficiency. This reduces Particulate Matter (PM), also known as “soot”, to almost zero. By injecting AdBlue® into the exhaust stream via a muffler/catalyst, NOx is chemically decomposed into Nitrogen (N2) and Water (H2O).

UD Trucks has chosen SCR over EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation), as it:

  1. lowers CO2 (greenhouse gas) emissions;
  2. improves fuel economy;
  3. reduces engine operating temperature;
  4. increases engine life;
  5. extends engine oil drain intervals; and
  6. requires no specialised engine oil.
