UD Truck's stand at the Melbourne International Truck, Trailer and Equipment Show will showcase the company's range of automatic and automated transmission equipped trucks underlining their efficiency and suitability to a range of operations.
The most significant truck on the UD stand will be a new GW470 Automated that will appear in the colours of TNT, the first UD heavy-duty model to be added to the transport giant's fleet.
TNT has added the new UD GW470 Automated to its fleet on a trial in city operations and has specified a number of added safety features as part of its order.
According to UD Trucks General Manager, John Bushell, having the chance to trial the UD flagship on the TNT fleet is a massive opportunity for the company and underlines UD's reputation, particularly with heavy-duty product.
"To have the TNT GW470 Automated on the UD stand in Melbourne is an important coup and demonstrates that major fleets see our trucks as cost effective and fuel efficient alternative to traditional US and European heavy-duty models," said John Bushell.
"The success of our adaptation of the Eaton Autoshift to the GW470 certainly helped to convince TNT to trial the truck in city operations, it is an important step forward because TNT is a very discerning buyer and to be given a chance to trial in its fleet is a real breakthrough for UD," he said.
In addition to the brilliant orange and white TNT liveried UD GW470 Automated, the UD stand will also feature the versatile heavy-duty GK400 featuring the UD semi-automated ESCOT transmission. The GK400 is finding favour with a range of operators most particularly on suburban and metro logistics and distribution work and is sure to prove popular with visitors to the ITTE.
In football mad Melbourne the UD MK6 Automatic on the show stand should prove popular with AFL fans, most particularly St Kilda followers with a special version of UD's popular medium-duty MK6 Automatic finished in Saints livery for the show.
Saint's star full forward Justin Koschitzke will be on the UD stand on Thursday 18th March to unveil the special MK6 Automatic.
Rounding out the automated and automatic UD stand is an automatic cab chassis PK9, again a truck which has hit the mark in a number of uses particularly in metro delivery work where the efficiencies and benefits of the Allison automatic can be best appreciated.
